This is an immersive, land-based adventure to dive into your mythic nature, your ancestral gifts and your deepest longing. We’ll explore the landscape of our ancient roots by immersing ourselves in a story from an indigenous tradition of Indo-Europe. From the rich and strange perspective of myth you’ll find doorways into new relationship with the land, and your own wild soul.
By “entering the story” in this way you may discover the layers of immense beauty and spiritual wealth that upheld our ancestral cultures. You may encounter the griefs of history that the story carries from an indigenous past to an imperial present day. Or you may find strange threads shining in the trail of the story that seem burningly relevant to your life.
We will be inviting you to take your inner experience onto the land with guided practices to weave yourself into an animate conversation with the wild forces. It is they who may then become your guides, seeking to cook or court you into a deeper version of yourself.
We will feel our animal bodies come alive as we move into the landscape uninhibited and awake. We will sit in council to integrate our soulwork into the human world of community and identity. We will work with dreams that have visited us in the night as a part of our conversation with soul and story. We’ll work with the beauty of the heart by crafting offerings and personal ceremonies. And we’ll feel the wonder of connection as we sink into the aliveness of the mythic Earth and our deep imagination.
Join us in song and celebration, joy and tenderness. We will move seamlessly between the physical world of nature and the inner world of soul and myth– we might even discover the place where the two meet, and the boundaries disappear.
This program draws on our Mythology Club style of inquiry, as taught at Martín Prechtel’s school, Bolad’s Kitchen. It also draws on Bill Plotkin’s approaches to soulwork as practiced at the Animas Valley Institute.
