Join Fianna for a week of wild games, skills, stories and challenges at Willingdon Beach. Our fun-packed camps offer a different adventure every day, supporting curiosity and connection, guiding young people into discovery, and a sense of belonging with the ecology of their home.
Campers will spend some of the day in a multi-age group (7-12), and some of it in smaller age groupings with 1 dedicated staff mentor for each group of 7 kids. They will learn (without even realizing!) about responsible harvesting, medicinal and food plants, natural materials, wild crafting, navigation, tracking and stalking, bird language, ancestral heritage and local ecology. With strong core routines of games, gratitude, circle sharing, singing, storytelling, exploring and inquiring, we facilitate a nature-connected collective container, grounded in relationships of respect and reciprocity - all by having fun!
The 8 Shields “Coyote Mentoring” approach we use was developed by Jon Young at the Wilderness Awareness School, formalizing the child-led, experiential schooling methods apparent in nature-based cultures. This approach focuses on connection: cultivating children’s curiosity and innate wisdom, guiding them into personal and collective learning experiences that reveal their gifts and support their development towards healthy maturity and wholeness.
Camps will be led by lead instructor of our yearlong programming, Lisa Levez-Bordeleau.
